If you’re wondering how to transform a basic Ikea vanity into a custom built-in: this post is for you!.

Customizing the Ikea Godmorgon

I ordered several samples of custom Godmorgon fronts and landed on European Rift Oak, which has a really nice wood grain texture and tone.

After assembling the vanities, the first step was to build a base for our floating shelf..

Next it was time to install the counter and sink. For the countertops, I chose Hanstone Quartz, in the color Coast. Two rectangular undermount sinks were also installed.

Since we’re using undermount sinks, the Godmorgon drawers have to be modified to accommodate the plumbing.

The drawers didn’t line up perfectly so we had to hide the large gap with edge banding veneer.
