How to build Floating Kitchen Shelves

How To DIY Floating Kitchen Shelves

Step 1: Locate the studs and shelf placement Use a stud finder to locate and mark the studs. Ideally, you'll want to hit at least two. Mark your shelf location with painters tape.

Step 2: Measure and cut 1×2’s for frame You can use pretty much any type of wood to build the support frame.

Step 3: Attach back support into wall Use a level and secure the back support piece into the studs.

Step 4: Attach side and front supports If there are any studs along the sides of your shelf, make sure to hit those. We had wood to drill into on both sides for extra support.

Step 5: Cut and bevel plywood panels Rip your plywood panels at a 45º angle and cut them down to fit.

Step 6: Glue and clamp plywood panels Use clamps and weights to avoid visible nails. After the glue dries, stain and seal.
