Around here, Dad is the go-to guy for just about everything—from power tools to piggyback rides. He brings the laughter and silliness to our home, and we love finding ways to spoil him every Father’s Day.
Each year, I ask Lucas to round up his latest & tried and true gift ideas—from tools to tech, self care, sports and hobbies. If you’re shopping for a dad who loves DIY, fitness, personal development and outdoor activities, you’re sure to find something in this list of 50+ thoughtfully curated ideas.
Here’s what made the cut this year along with Lucas’ commentary—starting with must-have tools for the weekend warrior:
Power Tool Charging Station / $56 (on sale) / A designated spot for power tools and chargers makes all the difference in keeping your workspace clean and uncluttered. This station includes an 8 outlet power strip and slots for both power tools and hand tools. If organizing the workbench is on the to do list then this is a great option I would recommend.
IRWIN 8pc Clamp Set / $40 / I use these clamps for nearly every project. Most recently, I used them to build and attach various parts of our DIY bunk bed. Easy to use with one hand with plenty of holding power. You can never have too many clamps!
DEWALT Cordless Reciprocating Saw / $81 on sale / Another recent edition to my Dewalt collection. I love this version as it’s small enough to operate with one hand, yet still packs enough oomph to get the job done. You can also easily change out blades with the universal connector.
4-in-1 Laser Tape Measure / $68 w/coupon / A 16’ tape measure PLUS a laser measure! What a great combination. I often find myself going back and forth between those two tools depending on the job at hand. It is so much easier to have both capabilities in the same device! Great for the dad that has everything and can use some efficiency on his tool belt.
DEWALT Bluetooth Headphones / $49 / Good tunes or a podcast while working on that honey-do list are a must. Sometimes those projects involve power tools that make it impossible to hear your Taylor Swift tunes playing from your speaker. These lightweight bluetooth headphones solve that problem, while also allowing you to take calls on the go even in noisy environments. This is the kind of gift he’ll use daily without even realizing how much he needed them.
Kreg Rip-Cut Saw Guide / $44 / This attachment transforms a basic circular saw into a precision tool, making it easy to rip full sheets of plywood with straight, repeatable cuts—no chalk lines or clamps needed. It’s especially handy for solo projects where a table saw isn’t practical. I used it to rip down the trim pieces for the bunk bed build when the table saw wasn’t an option.
Folding Roller Stand / $40 w/coupon / This adjustable-height roller stand is a workshop essential for anyone working with long or heavy materials. It’s like having an extra set of hands—perfect for cutting, sanding, or just keeping things steady. It folds up when you’re done, so it’s super easy to stash away between projects.
Here are Lucas’s top picks for outdoors, sports and recreation:
GCI Outdoor Rocking Chair / $83 / Once you’ve experienced one of these folding rocking chairs you will never go back to your standard camping chair. We love ours so much, we gifted it to my parents too. This one folds up and it’s perfect for concerts, camping, tailgating, or just watching the kids run wild in the yard.
6″ Boning Knife / $20 / If he’s serious about his BBQ game—or just loves a good kitchen tool—this 6-inch boning knife is a winner. It’s flexible, super sharp, and comes with its own sheath, so he can feel like a pro whether he’s trimming brisket or filleting fish. A solid pick for the guy who appreciates quality gear that gets the job done.
Airfly Bluetooth Adapter / $60 / This handy little gadget allows you to use your wireless headphones on planes, boats, cars, at the gym and more (or use it as a receiver!) Bonus: you can pair two sets of headphones at once for easy listening with a buddy.
Igloo Soft Cooler Bag / $89 on sale / Who needs a beach body when you’ve got a cooler full of 6-packs? This bag keeps everything chilled and easy to carry—ideal for beach days, park hangs, or road trips. Beach season is in full swing here in Tampa, and this is a great companion to keep everyone in the family happy with cold snacks and drinks all day long.
Adjustable 5-in-1 Weight Set / $140 on sale / If you’re short on space but still want to get a solid workout in, this adjustable dumbbell set is the way to go. It can turn into a barbell, kettlebell, or even push-up handles—so it basically does everything except cheer you on. A great way to get those reps in when you can’t make it to the gym.
Gogogo Sport VPro Rangefinder / $99 on sale / For all the golf dads out there, this is a fantastic option for his golf bag. It’s the next generation version of the rangefinder I’ve used for a couple years. No need to spend an arm and a leg on a rangefinder—this one has everything you would need plus more.
Owala FreeSip Insulated Water Bottle / $40 / Our good friend has tried every water bottle known to humans, and swears that this is the best one. I just ordered the 40oz size to help keep me hydrated throughout the long days of DIYing.
And finally, his current favorites for style and self-care:
Chubbies Everywear Shorts / $64 / These are my favorite and most worn shorts. I have a few pairs of the 6” inseam for outings or lounging around the house. I also have several in the 8” inseam that I use as work/DIY shorts. They are super comfortable with a soft fabric that stretches and moves with you.
Manscaped Lawn Mower Groomer / $63 on sale / If he’s still using the same clippers from college… it might be time for an upgrade. This waterproof trimmer is easy to use, rechargeable, and way more gentle on sensitive areas. A practical gift he didn’t know he needed—but will definitely appreciate.
Apple Watch Leather Band / $16 w/coupon / I switch from my silicone watch band to this leather band when I need to clean up and switch out of DIY-Dad mode. This real leather band fits like a glove, goes with everything, and makes any Apple Watch feel a little more grown up.
Charles Tyrwhitt Pure Linen Shirt / $129 / These linen shirts are my current go to wardrobe piece for all sorts of occasions. I ordered a few from this store and they exceeded my expectations. The extra slim fit for the long sleeve fits my body style while the slim fit for the short sleeve did the trick.
Allbirds Men’s Tree Lounger / $100 / Comfortable, easy on/off, stylish, lightweight, breathable. I’ve been an Allbird loyalist for years—these loungers work with any outfit and are great for everyday wear. Made from eucalyptus fiber, they’re extremely comfortable and reduce the environmental impact.
The Dose Effect / $21 on sale / My latest read that I recommend to everyone who asks (or sometimes doesn’t ask, my bad). This eye-opening book explores how four core brain chemicals shape everything from our energy to our mood. It also offers such a valuable perspective for parenting—helping raise emotionally aware kids by understanding what’s happening in their brains.
Mas Mezcal Baseball Hat / $19 on sale / If his idea of a perfect night includes smoky mezcal and good company (raises hand), this hat belongs in his rotation. Laid-back, well-made, and guaranteed to earn compliments.
Rocketbook Fusion Productivity Planner / $40 / I learn and remember better when I write things down by hand, but I also prefer the convenience of everything saved to my cloud. Welcome to the solution that does both at the same time! You write in this notepad and it automagically creates a digital copy on your devices. Just wipe the pages clean with water and voila, they can be used over and over again. It’s literally the last notebook he will need.
Happy Father’s Day to our hero, and the glue that holds us all together!
