In the midst of all the holiday hustle and bustle, we’ve been chipping away at a new bedroom in the Spanish Sanctuary—one I’ve aptly named The Queen Bedroom.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may recall we began work on it back in October, and today I’m ready to spill all of the design details!
This room shares the jack & jill bathroom with the recently completed Twin Bedroom.

It has a smaller footprint, measuring just shy of 11’x14′, with a tricky layout given the location of the entrance, closet and bathroom doors.

Progress
We replaced the carpet with white oak, upgraded the doors, hardware and moldings, and skim coated the walls. We also used the Vasari Fossil limewash to match the primary bedroom.

We installed the same dark stained maple wood beams used throughout the house.

Here’s how it looked a few weeks ago, ready for furnishings:

The Design Plan
The layout naturally called for a queen bed, so the Queen Bedroom was born, and I leaned into a timeless Spanish style with a regal, elegant feel.

I’m still waiting on a few pieces, but a lot of it has already come together. Here’s how it looks today!

The biggest holdup right now is one addition I’m very excited about. For added architectural interest and a more authentic Spanish feel, I decided to add corbels underneath the beams. I found these that were the perfect fit, and I’m just working on getting the right stain combination to match the beams.

I came across this gorgeous solid wood four poster spindle bed, and immediately added it to my cart after seeing the price. It was the first piece I chose for the space, and helped guide the design direction.

I tracked down this beautiful handmade block print quilt + sham set on Etsy. A bit of a splurge for me, but I think it’s one of those pieces that makes the room. Now I just need to decide on the rest of the bedding!

I bought this oversized tapestry to hang on the empty wall to the left the bed—we used this same tapestry in our Hacienda Hideaway primary bedroom and it’s such a great value for the size.

The rug is also an absolute steal at the current sale price. I was looking for a muted olive green rug that wasn’t too busy, and the pattern reminds me of traditional Spanish tile.

The color palette of this room is similar to the adjacent jack & jill bath—warm earthy tones with primarily greens, browns and golds. We are so close to the finish line and I can’t wait to share the reveal soon!
