I’ve got another reveal for you today coming from the Spanish Sanctuary! While we’ve kept busy this year working on the twin closet, primary bath and primary bedroom, the Queen Bedroom has been a quick and easy “win” amongst more challenging projects.
Let’s recall how it looked when we bought the house:
Before

This room shares the jack & jill bathroom with the recently completed Twin Bedroom.

It has a smaller footprint, measuring just shy of 11’x14′, with a trickier layout given the location of the entrance, closet and bathroom doors.

The Design Plan
The layout naturally called for a queen bed, so the Queen Bedroom was born, and I leaned into a timeless Spanish style with a more traditional feel.

I shared more about our plans and progress in this blog post, and we’ve worked on the room a little at a time since last fall.

After
Here’s how it looks now!

This gorgeous solid wood four poster spindle bed was the first piece I found for this space, and an instant add to cart. It anchors the space and elevates the overall look with a more regal feel.

The color palette mirrors the rest of the home—rich and earthy neutrals: deep browns, olive and sage green, copper, burgundy and soft white. From the moment you open the door it feels warm and inviting.

With limited space to work with, traditional nightstands were swapped for iron side tables, which contrast with the soft textiles and limewashed walls.

If the window treatments look familiar, this is the third time I’ve used these curtains! This time I got them in Copper. The blackout bamboo shades are from the same company, and I also used them in the primary bedroom.

One of my very favorite details are the wood corbels. While the ceiling beams made a big impact, the room still felt a bit flat and needed more architectural depth to capture that classic Spanish feel. Corbels were the missing puzzle piece. I stained them to match the beams, and they truly take the design to the next level.

I’m also in love with this bedding combo. I splurged a little on the handmade Indian block print quilt, but it’s one of a kind, soft and appears to be great quality. The pattern and colors were too gorgeous to pass up, and the cost is actually comparable to similar options from retail stores.

I always go for the same white cotton sheets in our rentals, but they felt off with the rest of the bedding. I swapped them with these cotton gingham sheets and that was 100% the right move. These layers together make my textile-loving heart sing.

This budget-friendly rug was another big win, and I was immediately drawn to the color and design. The pattern reminds me of a traditional Spanish tile, and this neutral olive/sage green palette is hard to find. It’s soft with a low pile, easy to clean and feels durable enough for a rental.

Loving this view into the jack & jill bath. These two rooms were made for each other, don’t you think?
