Spanish Sanctuary Primary Bedroom Reveal

February 25, 2026 | By Jenna Sue Spanish Sanctuary, Room Reveals

Coming in hot with the yet another room reveal today! A year and a half after sharing the design plans for the primary bedroom, this space is finally complete.

Let’s rewind back to the beginning. This is the largest bedroom I’ve ever worked on, measuring a spacious 18’6” x 15’5” with a 9’ recessed tray ceiling.

Pin

The size and layout meant we could easily fit a California King bed, plus a twin trundle bed to sleep four guests comfortably.

Pin

We worked on this room slowly in phases, taking long breaks to focus our attention on other areas of the house.

Pin

The walls were lime washed, DIY ceiling beams went up, white oak floors installed, and new trim and doors to get us to furnishing.

Pin

Heres how it looks today…

Pin

The vision for this space was similar to the “timeless, traditional Spanish” Queen bedroom, but with a more relaxed, lived-in feel. I imagined a cozy haven with warm neutrals, patterned textiles, rich wood tones and organic textures.

Pin

The double doors open into a small foyer that leads to the primary bathroom and closet on opposite sides. It makes for quite the grand entrance!

Of course, the primary suite of the home needed a statement bed as the centerpiece. This four poster bed was a secondhand find I upgraded with wavy trim, chair rail molding and paint. My exact bed is discontinued, but it looks like this bed is the newest version of it.

Pin

Recognize those nightstands? They’re an IKEA hack from two years ago that I’d been saving for this space!

Pin

I found the prettiest terracotta velvet bench that’s a near perfect color match to the nightstands (it’s actually the longer version of the stools in the primary bathroom).

Pin

Tracking down a trundle bed to fit my specific vision proved to be more difficult. I couldn’t find what I wanted, so ended up ordering a daybed from Walmart and having a custom velvet slipcover made for it (there’s velcro on the sides to open up the trundle on the bottom).

Pin

The wall sconces are such a great designer dupe, and of course we framed out the TV to look like art.

Speaking of art, this oversized tapestry is one of my favorites and I’m so bummed it’s not available at the moment. Really hoping they bring it back…

Pin

The curtains are the third set I’ve ordered of the TwoPages SaraLe (in Scarlett). From a distance they look brown, but up close they’re more of an olive green with dark red florals.

Pin

It might appear as if we’ve upgraded the windows, but you’re seeing two of my go-to design tricks in action: larger window treatments and simple DIY grids. Works every time!

Pin

This is the same window grid technique I used in the primary bathroom, and I shared a reel with all the details ICYMI. The photo below is the best representation of the true curtain color.

Pin

You may also recognize this shady lady tree from our living room. I love it so much, I bought for this room in the 7′ size (potted in this affordable XL planter)

Pin

I’m also using the same low profile memory foam mattresses on this trundle as I used in the twin bedroom (and I switched to this ivory quilt that’s much softer!)

Pin

I just love this view from the front entrance…

Pin

Here’s how the room looks from the other side. You can see the entrance past the arch, with the second door leading to the ensuite bathroom.

Pin

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t mind waking up here on vacation 😉

Now that the second floor is complete, we’re moving all of our attention to the biggest makeover inside the house (any guesses??)

    Jenna Sue,

I absolutely love everything you design ! I have followed you for many, many years – ever since I first met you in California when you were redoing a kitchen. Can you tell me the color of the paint that you used on the poster bed ? I love the upgrades on it so much !
    Thanks so much,
    Sylvia

Thank you Sylvia! And that’s a good question — I don’t recall off the top of my head but I can look for the can next time I’m there.

Hi, I think this is beautiful, what color of the lime paint did you use? I’ve not seen this before for interior space – I think it makes it look like suede – it’s gorgeous. I love this “white” color. I’ve prechosen SW HGTV Alabaster but haven’t started yet and now seeing yours I think I might do the lime paint.

Hi Joy, it’s the color linked in the post, Fossil. It’s not white, but more of a greige. You’ll love it!

Thank you! I went on Vasari website to look at their gallery and they use Fossil a lot! I love the look/decor, very minimal – Italian, Greek, Mediterranean or even Scandavian look. You do beautiful work!!

I love this room so much, that I want to make my entire master bedroom look like this. It’s serene and calming but still gives me all the feels without being boring. I also love the trundle twin bed for extra sleeping, genius that you made your green velvet vision come to life. Thanks for sharing everything so it’s so easy to mimic the inspiration. I can’t wait to stay here!
