Even though sweater weather is still months away here and fall foliage is nowhere to be found, that’s not going to stop me from dreaming about my favorite season. Each year, I track down the best faux stems and round up my favorites on the blog. From oversized branches and stems to delicate florals, there’s something here for every room and mood.
This year’s list includes best-selling favorites from years past, plus many new finds you haven’t seen before. I’ve also added a roundup of versatile vases in every size. Keep in mind these stems can sell out quickly and are often discontinued for the next year, so don’t wait if you find something you love!
Let’s start with a handful of my personal favorites, and how I styled them in our home. First up—these oversized branches bring the fall drama without breaking the bank at under $7/ea:
These $5 orange sedum stems are a new Target release this season, and have quickly become a favorite:
Small, delicate florals are trending right now, and often have a more realistic appearance than larger stems and flowers. I love these burgundy baby’s breath in a smaller vase for bathroom counters and bedroom nightstands.
The coloring of these Nandia stems is gorgeous, and their large size makes them ideal for making a statement on spaces like a dining table, kitchen island or entryway.
These huge 48″ grape ivy branches were a must-have from last year, and one of the most lifelike I’ve seen. I styled four in this terracotta floor vase.
I’m sure you’ve seen these viral plum cimicifuga stems from Afloral—years later and they’re still hard to beat (& they’re currently on sale!). I used six in the vase below, but 2-3 also look great for a more minimalist arrangement.
Magnolia leaves are a seasonal classic that never go out of style. I’ve had these stems for years and love pulling them out around Thanksgiving—they look and feel real!

Thanks, Jenna. I have drawn a lot of inspiration from your blog and utilized some of your ideas in my own home. I truly appreciate the content you put out on your blog. And I just noticed – Labor Day Sale at Studio McGee right now! Very nice discounts. I just ordered a vase from your roundup.

Do you cut your artificial stems to fit your vase size?
Jenna Sue says
Yes, I either bend them or cut them depending on the stem length!

Hi, I love that you do this every year! Also, can I ask where the gold mirror (in the picture with the brown magnolia stems) is from? It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for!
Jenna Sue says
It’s actually vintage! I found it on Craigslist years ago.

How do you put them in the vase to keep them upright? Is there something in the vase like marbles or the green floral foam to hold them in place?
Jenna Sue says
I use floral foam, tape and floral frogs occasionally but I prefer floral/chicken wire nets the most. I find it the easiest to work with and reuse.

I bought the 5 Queen Anne’s lace and vase but can’t get it to look yours any tips?
Jenna Sue says
You have to make sure the stems are the right length for your vase, vary the height of each one and bend them in an S-shape so they aren’t so straight. It takes a little adjusting but the stems are very pliable and easy to shape!

Exactly the question I was going to ask!

How do you store your faux florals?
Jenna Sue says
We built a lot of cabinet storage upstairs: https://www.jennasuedesign.com/our-custom-ikea-cabinet-built-ins/ I also keep some in the upper cabinets in our closet, and seasonal stuff in bins in the garage!
