After two years of designing, DIYing, and mostly procrastinating… the wait is finally over! Our little laundry room is complete. Here’s how the 67″x90″ space looked for nearly three years after we moved in:
In early 2022, I found inspiration and came up with a design plan. We installed herringbone brick floors, and reeded glass window film on the pocket door.
We got a new stacking washer & dryer, painted the vinyl window, built custom cabinetry, found the perfect butcher block stain and built a clothes drying rack.
Over the last couple weeks, the doors have been built (tutorial coming soon!) trim and molding installed, and all the final touches. Today, I’m thrilled to finally share our finished and functional laundry room!
Originally I had a different wallpaper selected, but during the 18+ month project delay, I came across another option and instantly fell in love. This design feels much more sophisticated, and the colors coordinate beautifully with our adjacent living room.
As our family has grown, kitchen storage has become a challenge and we’ve found ourselves needing more cabinet space. With our laundry room’s close proximity to the kitchen, the plan was always to design it as a multi-purpose pantry/additional storage room.
With those needs in mind, we maximized the small footprint to include floor to ceiling cabinetry, along with a beverage fridge and dedicated home for a self-cleaning cat litter box.
Now, we have more than enough space to store all of our cleaning supplies, less frequently used kitchen gadgets and overflow pantry items.
I still can’t get over how simple these doors were to make, and how high end they feel. Adding flush filler pieces and a custom DIY toe kick to give the illusion of inset cabinetry is a trick we repeated from our Hacienda kitchen.
The LG washtower has been a game changer. The stacked layout is much more efficient for our small space, and the center control panel makes everything easily accessible. 10/10 would recommend!
I sourced reasonably priced unlacquered brass hardware and aged them a bit with salt and vinegar. I’m loving the vintage touch those cabinet latches add.
This renovation has been a long time coming, but so worth the wait!

Love the whole room! Can you share the grout and sealant you used with this flooring?

LOVE everything you do!!!! I have been following you forever now! My walls are alabaster as well, and I would love to know the color of the trim, I was thinking of painted accessible beige, but not sure just yet!
Jenna Sue says
Thank you! The rest of the house is painted Alabaster with Accessible Beige trim.

Old world charm with modern convenience – love it! I notice that with the pocket door, there are 2 light switches on the outside wall. I always figured there wouldn’t be enough room for a pocket door on walls that have electricity. How did you manage it?
Jenna Sue says
We actually installed a second wall up against the first wall to hold the pocket door. The electric boxes are in the other wall 🙂

Gorgeous. And I so appreciate you sharing so honestly the changes you would make or the mistakes made b/c it helps the rest of us so much. I believe that sometime in the last 6 months I saw you do a quick post on a huge sale for your stackable washer/dryer- do you remember the price range of that sale? I’m sure I am dreaming, but did you say you had never seen it so low- under $1,000??? Seems impossible to be that low, but if you have an idea, I can keep my eye out. We are going to be needing a set in the next 1/2 year. Thanks in advance!
Jenna Sue says
Of course, happy to share my experience! I don’t recall the exact price range but I would be shocked if it was under $1k for both. The last couple sales I remember have been $1800 I believe, and I paid over $2k for the set (also on sale).

Can people 5 ft reach and operate the stackables?
Any hints on the stackable?
What is height and wit h of the two machines stacker?
Thank you for responding!
Your room is well thought out and lovely!
Jenna Sue says
All of the controls are in the center, so yes! I’m 5’1 and it’s very easy for me to access. I don’t have the measurements handy but they should be listed in the product link!

Is the brick flooring hard to clean?
Jenna Sue says
Not if it’s sealed! It hides everything so we usually just vacuum it. You can use a dish sponge to scrub as needed.
Magster says
What color do you have in your walls in the kitchen?
Jenna Sue says
SW Alabaster

I’ve had an LG washtower for a couple years and I’m just going to say that if you have dogs and need to wash dog bedding much it is not great. Otherwise your room is beautiful.

Thank you!

What an amazing room! Now you will be leaving the door open all the time, especially since it is a great kitchen overflow area. If I’m being honest, the pantry/laundry off our kitchen is the room I spend the most time in. How are your floors holding up? They seem indestructible and I am inspired to try them somewhere. I don’t see a sink in there, do you wish you had plumbed up one?
Jenna Sue says
Thank you! The floors are holding up just fine. We vacuum once in a while and use a dish sponge on any stains but that’s about it. Brick floors hide everything.
A sink would be a really tight squeeze, and would eliminate our counter space. We have a large deep farmhouse sink in the kitchen a few steps away so I have no problem soaking laundry there when needed.

I canNOT even begin to tell you how much I LOVE this!!!! Would you ever share the paint color?? This is just perfection!
Jenna Sue says
Thank you Lynda! The paint color is listed at the end, it’s SW Svelte Sage.

Ditto, I am in LOVE with your PAGE!!!
CAN YOU PLEASE SHARE THE COLOR OF THE TRIM THAT IS NEXT TO SW SVELTE SAGE?
THANK YOU
Jenna Sue says
Thank you! All of the trim inside the room is Svelte Sage. The trim on the outside is Accessible Beige.

Wow, what an incredible transformation! The attention to detail and thoughtful planning really shine through in your laundry room reveal. From the stunning herringbone brick floors to the sophisticated wallpaper choice, every element comes together harmoniously. I especially admire how you’ve maximized the space for both functionality and style, incorporating clever storage solutions like the floor-to-ceiling cabinetry and beverage fridge. The DIY touches, like the custom cabinet doors and aged brass hardware, add such character and warmth to the room. Congratulations on completing this renovation—it’s truly inspiring and worth celebrating! Can’t wait to see more of your projects in the future.

So gorgeous, as always! Will you share the details of the litter robot and how you hid it? For us cat lovers there is very little content showing great design that includes the cat’s needs. It is all dogs! I always love spying your sweet girl!
Jenna Sue says
Thank you! The door is attached by heavy duty magnets along the top. We have a CatGenie, which is a self cleaning litter box and hooked up to the water and drain from our washer/dryer. We don’t need to access it very often. The cabinet opening is just large enough to access and slide the unit out when needed.
Elizabeth says
Would you mind telling me the distance from your washer door to the opposite wall? We have the same washing tower and trying to configure it in a small room. Can you get it out if it needed repairs?
Thanks so much
Briegh says
Can you post more about the cat door and whats inside?? Would love to see it love that idea.
